The Azzurri were 10-3 ahead at the break with captain Alberto Chiesa scoring and Riccardo Bocchino landing a conversion and a penalty. Italy scored two more tries in the second half through Alberto Cazzola and Luca Martinelli. Despite pressure Canada could not add to an early Nathan Hirayama penalty. It was a fitting finale for the undefeated Italians who were sharper particularly in the first half.

sportsdigitalcontent. The clash was a typically hard but yet uninspiring all-Australian Super 14 derby. The home side – who were well below par on the night – will be breathing a big sigh of relief after emerging victorious having been put off their game by the tough-tackling men from Perth who had four Matt Giteau penalties to show for their efforts on the night. It certainly was a dramatic improvement from the Super Rugby newboys who shipped 117 points against the Crusaders and the Chiefs in New Zealand over the past two weeks. But they will still be a heart-broken bunch after coming so close.

In a game that seemed to spend more time in limbo than anything else there were only a few glimpses of play to get excited about as the 23-13 final score put the home team temporarily clear at the top of the leader board. The Hurricanes now need miracle results from other remaining round robin games to make it to the semifinals. Last year’s finalists were on the pace at halftime trailing only 17-13 but hopes of closing the gap diminished early in the second half when Jerry Collins was stretchered off the field. The All Black flanker collided in a tackle with Crusaders second five-eighth Rua Tipoki and appeared to jar his neck before hitting the ground and lying motionless until medics arrived.
Edwards: Rugby is as big as football

Certainly there is no separating them on the European arena; for Manchester United Liverpool and Chelsea – all in the last four of the European Cup – you can read Heineken Cup semi-finalists Wasps Leicester and Northampton. Edwards who won the competition with Wasps in 2004 said: “This is the second time I’ve been at this stage of the Heineken Cup and it’s where for once I think club rugby can be compared to club soccer in terms of the stadia in terms of the interest from the media and in terms of the numbers you get to the grounds. It’s very exciting. advertisement”I wake up every morning and I’ve got knots in my stomach.

substring(0 thispageresult. We feel as former players captains and team leaders that we must make amends and set the record straight. Although there were many different inconsistencies between the article and the reality of the UNH Women’s Rugby team there are a few major issues that must be addressed. Ultimately we are very disappointed to see a picture of our team that does not reflect the values and true character of the team we and other alumni worked hard to build. The first disappointment we reencountered within the article was the descriptions of a first-time player experience.

The Hurricanes have only ever once won in Christchurch (back in 2001) and their last victory against the Crusaders was three years ago in Wellington. verall in 14 Super Rugby encounters between the two sides the Hurricanes have managed just three wins. However ‘Canes hardman Jerry Collins does not believe in statistics and remains confident the Class of 2007 will produce the kind of performance that will secure a win and keep their S14 play-off hopes alive. He also felt last year’s Final will have no bearing on what happens this week. “Half of the guys that will play on Friday did not play in last year’s Final [at a misty Jade Stadium]” he said adding that he simply does not believe in looking to past results for guidance as to what will happen now.
