The AT is looking at the possible tax implications of the ‘sponsor payments’ as well as thoroughly reviewing all player remunarations and payments to other associations at players’ directions at the Force as well as the Reds Brumbies and Waratahs. The move has produced one eyebrow-raising discovery according to Australia’s Sydney Morning Herald with a documented formal offer to the Waratahs lock Al Kanaar involving a number of third-party payments. A signed letter from Force chief executive officer Peter ‘Meara outlined a A$258000 ($212000) package including cash travel a car allowance and a third-party arrangement with a sponsor which was underwritten by the club. The offer a potential breach of Australian Rugby Union player contract protocols also included a A$30000 ($24650) annual salary for Kanaar to become an “environmental advisor” for one of four companies.
Rugby Club look for ground-share
Barking and Dagenham Post – May 30, 2007
Barking Rugby Club need more space. BARKING Rugby Club secretary Jim Marner has suggested that a meeting earmarked for Friday at Victoria Road is designed to tentatively explore the option of a potential ground-share with Dagenham & Redbridge FC writes NEIL TRAINIS. A lack of pitch space for training and playing has been cited as one of the reasons the rugby club relegated from National League Two last season are looking at the possibility of moving away from their Goresbrook site. They currently have 17 teams but only three pitches one with floodlights and the need to move to accommodate better facilities has prompted Barking to consider alternative sites. LocationMarner insisted that one prospective location for development was the Paint Trim and Assembly (PTA) plant at the old Ford site in Dagenham and he claimed that would be a topic for discussion with Dagenham & Redbridge at the meeting with a view to building and sharing a new stadium. He admitted that for the moment the idea is in its “embryonic” stage but he suggested that Barking & Dagenham Council want to see its local football club who earned promotion to the Football League last season move from Victoria Road.
