Britain found themselves 10-4 down after 20 minutes following two Maxime Greseque tries for the French. But the home team rallied to lead 16-10 at half-time thanks to tries for Rob Burrow and Jamie Langley. Second-half tries for Stephen Wild Paul Sykes James Roby and Burrow his second sealed a comfortable win. France looked lively from the start in front of a crowd of 12685 at Headingley Carnegie and were helped when GB debutant Chris Melling misjudged a kick that went out for a 40-20.

Wrexham avoid Wales rugby clashes

The Dragons have switched their home match with Grimsby Town to Friday 22 February. And the kick-off against Darlington at the Racecourse on 2 February has been brought forward to 1430 BST. The changes were requested after an poll on Wrexham’s website found that the majority of fans were in favour of avoiding clashes with rugby games. Wales have Six Nations games with England on 2 February (1630 BST) and Italy on 23 February. Wrexham had already announced that home derbies against Shrewsbury Town and Chester City have been switched to Sunday kick-offs on police request. The Dragons will now face Shrewsbury on 4 November and Chester on 25 November both with noon kick-offs.

This is a tough challenge for coach Michael tieno in his first match. He predicted that Morocco who was due to arrive on Thursday morning would prefer to slow down the game. tieno has had to do without several seven-a-side players because of fatigue and injuries. Wingers Sidney Ashioya and Collins Injera are injured while Patrick nyango Andrew Amonde Innocent Simiyu Humphrey Khayange and Biko Adema are fatigued from playing in the IRB Sevens World Series and Tusker Safari Sevens.

Durban buzzing with rugby fever

Thousands of fans are stocking up in preparation for the Tri-Nations Test between the Springboks and All Blacks at Durban’s Absa Stadium on Saturday. The game kicks off at 3pm and promises to be filled with action-packed entertainment. Tickets were sold out on Monday. The weather is expected to be fine with temperatures in the mid-20s and a north-easterly wind blowing.
