Rugby win for Canada’s under-21 side
Toronto Star – Jun 21, 2007
RTRURA New Zealand (CP) – James Pritchard kicked a penalty in the dying minutes to give Canada a 16-13 rugby win over the New Zealand under-21 side Thursday. The win evened the Canadians' tour record at 1-1 following a 64-12 loss to the All Blacks. Despite that loss to the world No. 1 side the tour has been encouraging for Canadian coach Ric Suggitt. All Blacks coach Graham Henry made a point of praising the No.

sportsdigitalcontent. This has resulted in a dramatic recall for former Bok captain Bob Skinstad who will start at number eight and Danie Rossouw who comes off the bench to start at flank. Spies was ruled out when he suffered a knee injury during a closed training session at training on Thursday whilst Smith was ruled out when he failed to recover from the thigh injury he sustained in the 22-19 victory over the Wallabies in the opening Tri-Nations match last weekend. The late injury news aside the rift between Bok coach Jake White and team manager Zola Yeye appears wider than ever after news began filtering through on Thursday that Skinstad would in fact be starting against the All Blacks in Durban. Media sources close to White reported the recall of Skinstad but Yeye was initially caught off-guard when contacted by this website.

Thirty years of rugby development
IRB – Jun 21, 2007
In countries with a strong Rugby culture it was mainly practiced in schools and at universities. It subsequently spread to clubs. Teachers in schools and universities often accompanied their players to the associative milieu of public and private clubs. In countries where Rugby was either ignored or elitist parents were often ex-patriots who indulged their passion for the game by establishing veteran teams or sometimes by trying to heighten awareness of Rugby among teachers or educators in clubs of all sports.

Rugby: Springbok Targeting All Blacks
hmyNews International – Jun 21, 2007
Interestingly when the All Blacks won the Tri-Nations in 1999 and 2003 they were unable to win the World Cup. It’s possibly faulty psychology that good form in the Tri-Nations will necessarily have a bearing on who will be world champions in September this year — the reason being that the war of attrition strips the teams that work too hard in the lead up to the World Cup. South Africa are already feeling this through the loss of crucial players like captain John Smit and Brian Habana.
Mental skills for rugby referees
IRB – Jun 21, 2007
McGill School of Sport and Recreation Southern Institute of Technology Invercargill New ZealandAs with all successful performers rugby referees must prepare physically psychologically and emotionally for each match. Sports officials like athletes attribute their success or failure to a range of factors. Attributions cover people’s perception about causes of events. For a rugby referee the challenge is to oversee a game of two teams of fifteen players in which the players have the opportunity to perform at their best while providing an enjoyable experience for the spectators. Referees like other sports officials need to exert a degree of control over the game.
