The 23-year-old inside centre and flyhalf is joining an exodus of All Blacks taking advantage of big money on offer from European clubs. “There’s rugby but there’s also life outside rugby and it was a hard decision something I didn’t make overnight” McAlister told Television New Zealand. McAlister said he had also received offers from Irish club Munster and Toulouse in France before opting for Sale. “I guess it’s a familiar area I’ve been there before” he said.

Stirling Mortlock celebrated a fine winter Test campaign by being named captain of the team while Phil Waugh and George Gregan while share the vice-captaincy in France. Wallabies Coach John Connolly said Mortlock’s nomination for the Wallabies captaincy at the World Cup was testament to his on-field leadership throughout the 2007 season. “Stirling embraced the captaincy role during the Tri Nations and really led from the front with his performances on the field” said Connolly.

Graham Henry has told us liver starts for the All Blacks because of his superior work in the front row in comparison to Keven Mealamu. Well the first half proved that is actually not the case. liver added nothing to the All Blacks scrum. And he didn’t shine at lineout time either.
