James Painton from Macclesfield died in the early hours of 21 July close to a bar in La Plata Buenos Aires his school said. Another three players were injured in the road accident in the Free State on Tuesday. Captain Magda Muller said the six players had been practising in Bloemfontein and were en route from Soutpan heading in the direction of Welkom when their vehicle overturned after a tyre burst. Two players were killed instantly while four others were injured three seriously. The players killed were Nardus (Pompies) Wessels and Ashley Mapisa said Jan Marais president of the Griffons rugby union.
