Marinos said however there were certain processes to be followed before discussions could be concluded. "There is a process that needs to be followed and as such I intend to ensure that things are done properly" he said. "We are exploring the possibility of Eddie's involvement with the Springboks up to the end of our campaign in France. "But I wish to state that despite much speculation around the issue Eddie has not yet been offered a contract with the Springboks.

sportsdigitalcontent. Instead of calling up one of Pedrie Wannenburg or Jacques Cronj? two bulky loose forwards who have played for the Boks this year – the Springbok coach has opted for an extra hooker in the shape of Sharks star Bismarck du Plessis. Du Plessis who won two caps during SA’s controversial Tri-Nations away leg will serve as back-up to national captain John Smit and Gary Botha in the centre of the Bok scrum. The Boks will therefore be going to the World Cup with just five loose forwards – Schalk Burger Juan Smith Danie Rossouw Bob Skinstad and Wikus van Heerden. Former Bok captain Skinstad (rib cartilage) did not train fully in Cape Town last week whilst hard-working Bulls flanker Van Heerden took a knock to his right knee at training last week.

Rugby 08 gives fans a taste of the World Cup

And nearly that time when you’ll find whatever reason possible to go around to your mate’s place who has a bigger TV and Sky and innocently ask “Mate do you mind if I watch the rugby?” Yes that’s right the quest for the glorious Webb Ellis Cup is almost upon us and what better way to cure that itch than to play the latest release of Rugby 2008. Even though it is named 2008 the primary focus is on the upcoming World Cup. The game doesn’t just offer you the World Cup; you also get plenty of other modes to wet your whistle. The Super 14 Six Nations and Tri Nations are all up for grabs as well as a Challenge mode which dumps you in historical World Cup scenarios and gives you the chance to accomplish some feats that did – and didn’t – happen in the past.
Vive les Dragons: Wembley final is an unmissable opportunity for both…
Independent – Jul 31, 2007
It was not guaranteed to work but the alternative was to let French rugby league decline and possibly die. The game there has sometimes not helped itself but it has unique problems not least an unreconstructed Rugby Union which uses its financial muscle to poach many of league’s best products and also indulges in the sort of dirty tricks which have largely gone out of fashion elsewhere – as the Catalans found when they shared a ground with them last season. Perpignan is a rugby league stronghold as well as a union one and attendance figures have been good – and genuine. Some performances have been hugely encouraging and there are young French players who have been improving week by week. And yet the Catalans finished last in their inaugural season of 2006 – something Paris never managed – and were saved from instant extinction only by an advance decision that they could not be relegated for their first three years. Castleford where the local side did go down is one town where they query how good the Dragons have been for the game. There were some excuses for that disappointing finish… The Broncos had a similar struggle to sell tickets and were thrashed by Leeds. Both clubs survived only in reduced circumstances having proved to many eyes that their task really was hopeless. The Dragons have the advantage of coming from real rugby league roots but it is still possible that they could cop a hiding at Wembley. There were Wigan fans who were prepared to admit that if someone has to be hammered by Saints they would rather it be the Catalans than them. Even with a general as astute as Jones and a pack as rugged and willing as theirs that could happen to the Dragons.
