Endorsed by the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) The Bingham Cup will take place at Dublin City University in June of next year and will be the largest international gay event ever held in the country. The 32-team biannual event founded in 2002 is one of the largest amateur rugby tournaments in the world and last year’s competition held in New York was the biggest yet. An avid rugby fan and a star of San Francisco Fog RFC Bingham is believed to have been among the passengers who stormed the cockpit to prevent the hijackers from using the plane to kill additional victims.

If selected Geo will travel around the world with the team representing The Bahamas (Caribbean) in the 2008 7s Rugby circuit which includes the Hong Kong 7s San Diago 7s and several tournaments in Europe. Geo who is 19 and works for the Freeport Container Port has been playing rugby since he was 13 and over recent years has progressed to a high level which culminated in playing for The Bahamas two weekends ago in the Caribbean 7s held in Nassau. From his display in Nassau the West Indies selectors picked him for the trails this week. The selectors have picked a squad of 20 players of which 12 will be selected for the West Indies team who will play the Trinidad 7s this weekend as a final tryout for the final selection.

uk28 November 2007 BARNSTATPLE’S rugby players suffered a double whammy on Saturday at the hands of sneaky thieves with an appetite players’ valuables. Towards the end of the 2nd XV game against Torquay by the South Devon seaside a man in his 40s posing as a Barnstaple official went into the bar and asked a member of staff for the team’s valuables bag. It is common practice among teams to put wallets car keys and mobile phones in a bag for safe keeping during a match. The staff member was taken in by the ruse and handed over the bag without realising anything was wrong. Half a mile away on a council-owned pitch where Barum Colts were playing Torquay pilferers raided the dressing rooms during the game and made off with sizeable amounts of cash.

n ctober 25 between 7pm and 9. 30pm a silver BMW 540i and a silver VW Polo were stolen from outside Beckenham Rugby Club in Balmoral Avenue. The BMW was then stored for two days outside a block of flats in Porchester Mead in Beckenham. In the mid-morning of ctober 27 a car pulled up and the pictured man got out took the BMW plate off and replaced it with another one which read Y49 UFW.
