It would be a difficult choice at the end of next season when his second 12-month NRL deal with the Broncos expires. The 18-year-old said fullback was his preferred position in union but he expected to play wing in league especially as the Broncos boasted Test fullback Karmichael Hunt.

Baggetta named as USA defence coach Saturday 22nd December 2007 USA Rugby CE and President of perations Nigel Melville on Saturday announced the appointment of Potomac Athletic Club’s Peter Baggetta as the union’s new defence specialist coach. Baggetta’s new responsibilities include developing the defensive approach and systems in partnership with USA Rugby National Team coaches working with the National Team coaches and assisting with coaching national team players. The 43-year-old will also be delivering specialty coaching sessions in collaboration with the USA Rugby Coach Development Program. Baggetta a US Navy veteran and former athletic director and educator will be working closely with Melville the new Men’s National Team head coach USA Rugby age-grade coaches and Rick Humm USA Rugby coach development director. Baggetta who is currently coaching Potomac Athletic Club (PAC) in the Super League has been involved in the game for over 30 years as both a player and coach.

Quins without a win in their previous seven matches – six of them in the Heineken and EDF Energy Cup competitions – since beating European champions Wasps 26-25 on ctober 20 were desperate to recapture the form which had taken them to fifth place in the Premiership table. Expertly orchestrated by England scrum-half Andy Gomarsall they dominated the opening half hour but – not for the first time this season – failed to turn early pressure into points. All they had to show for their first half efforts was a penalty from Jarvis after a desperate Saracens defence strayed offside in front of their own posts. But the visitors well-drilled rearguard soaked up the pressure stopping England winger David Strettle and South African hooker Gary Botha just short of the try-line.

There were moments when goodwill was not evident despite the advent of Christmas but there was also a match of high tension and quality which was a generous present befitting the time of the year. There was a first defeat and a first victory this weekend. Toulouse lost for the first time and Brive won for the first time. Toulouse lost away but Brive won away and manage to lift themselves a little way off the bottom.
