Waratahs coach Ewen McKenzie only days ago called for a local to be appointed but yesterday welcomed the arrival of the New Zealander. He was joined in praise by Brumbies counterpart Laurie Fisher who claimed the Wallabies’ first foreign coach would provide a different dimension to rugby in Australia.

The star back line utility has been in tremendous form and showed what he has to offer on the top level. Auckland beat Wellington 23-14 in the final. Nacewa’s match-winning display of 18 points including a try two penalties and two conversions illustrated his true class as he constantly drove Wellington back on the defensive with well directed field kicking for position. Having turned down an offer to play for Fiji at the recent Rugby World Cup Nacewa made his mark on the club scene and for the Blues in the Super 14.
