Andrew Trimble’s second-half effort levelled the scores but Qera grabbed his second try of the game on the hour. Iain Balshaw secured the bonus point before Bowe’s late consolation while Luke Narraway added a fifth late on. That is the most pleasing aspect to come out of their 72-10 drubbing of the Boland Cavaliers in a Super 14 pre-season outing in Wellington on Saturday. New Stormers coach Rassie Erasmus admitted that his team was far from clinical in their 12-try triumph but he felt they showed the one characteristic that was important to him at this stage in the season. There is no doubt that the Stormers have sufficient talent to be a competitive force in the Super 14 but it is quite possibly the lack of intensity that could have been the cause of their lacklustre performances in last year’s competition. “Attitude was important to me especially on defence and I think the attitude was good although it wasn’t a particularly great game” Erasmus said.
