The 37-year-old had been facing the charge following a road crash that claimed the life of a Co Limerick teenager two years ago. Sixteen-year-old Kevin Walsh from Bruff died in a two-vehicle collision near Toomevara in Co Tipperary in April 2006. In court last year Mr Halvey pleaded not guilty to dangerous driving causing death and reports this morning say the DPP has now decided not to proceed with this charge. The former rugby star will still however face a charge of drink-driving over the incident.

Boland coach Deon Davids was under the impression that all experimental laws to be used in SA rugby this year would apply. However Frikkie Erasmus commercial manager of the Stormers said only those to be used in the Super 14 competition would apply. In the end André Watson head of SA referees confirmed that only the Super 14's experimental laws would be in operation. However all experimental laws will be used in the match between the Boland and Western Province Vodacom Cup teams.
