No guarantees in sport – New Zealand’s source for sport rugby…
stuff.co.nz – Jan 6, 2008
the real beauty of sport is that sometimes the outcome is beyond our control and the underdog comes through. Surely little old New Zealand must understand that!?! All Blacks rugby is in good hands this year. n the other side of the paddock the league boys are world class in cocking up their sport. What a mess they've created by dropping Brian McLennan a man who oozes the blue collar league ethos out of every pour on his body. Gary Kemble is so out of touch he's instantly turned the Kiwis into a charity case. The Australians are so concerned about New Zealand league's fragile state that they've offered the services of one of their coaching legends Wayne Bennett on a silver platter just to make the Kiwis respectable for their upcoming world cup.

The 35-year-old winger won the last of his 65 caps for France in the defeat to Argentina in the World Cup bronze-medal match in ctober. He scored 25 tries for Les Bleus and played in four Six Nations-winning teams since his debut in February 1998. ‘France it is over for me’ said Dominici on Saturday night following his club side Stade Francais’ 33-6 Top 14 home win over Montpellier. ‘It has been a big part of my life. But at any given moment you must know when to turn the page.

SAA costs SA Rugby R3m
news24.com – Jan 6, 2008
Afrikaans Sunday newspaper Sondag reported that the sponsorship deal which was meant to be signed in December last year has not yet been signed five months later and was costing the rugby union a fortune. According to the report SA Rugby were keen to finalise the signatures but a rethink by SAA has delayed the signing of the controversial contract. Sondag claims that R3m has been spent on flights this year with previous sponsor British Airways who lost out in a controversial manner when the sponsorship went out to tender. The amount may get bigger as SA Rugby was also forced to charter an aircraft for the Welsh team to fly to Bloemfontein this week for the first Test against the World Champions.

Dallaglio not taking rugby coaching role for granted
Turkish Press – Jan 6, 2008
The 35-year-old told BBC radio that he would have to be humble and earn the respect that comes with qualifying as a coach before he could feel he was on the right track. “I am realistic enough to understand that to transfer from being a player to a coach is not something one can take for granted” said Dallaglio who was also a member of the England squad that surprisingly made the 2007 World Cup final where they lost to South Africa. “While you do develop a certain number of skills that are relevant to coaching there is also a number of skills that one needs to learn and develop away from the game. I don’t think you can just suddenly walk into an England dressing room and start coaching England.
