USF Rugby Defeats Embry Riddle
USCH – Jan 29, 2008
29 2008 (UWIRE) TAMPA Fla. — The USF rugby team continues to be on a roll dominating the opposition. This time the victim was Embry Riddle University which had to endure a 59-14 Bulls’ victory that included a stampede of tries nine for the match. Flyhalf Jeff "Alaska" Heron had three tries and Nick "Puddles" Weaver added another three tries in what turned out to be a stellar offensive day for a Bulls team that considers itself a serious national championship contender and the best team in Florida. ne of the main reasons for USF’s offensive success was the way it suffocated Embry Riddle. With USF winning the majority of the lines and the forwards dominating the scrum the Bulls had the ball most of the time and Embry Riddle found itself working hard just to pass midfield.

Ireland rugby coach stays loyal to World Cup flops
Turkish Press – Jan 29, 2008
‘Sullivan made just four enforced changes from the team that lost 30-15 to Argentina in the final pool game of September’s World Cup that killed off any hopes of the Irish progressing to the knock-out phase of the competition. In the forwards Rory Best comes in at hooker for the suspended Jerry Flannery while Malcolm ‘Kelly – who will extend his Irish record of caps to 92 – and Donncha ‘Callaghan pair up in the second row with Paul ‘Connell out injured. The backline sees Andrew Trimble and Geordan Murphy starting on the wings in the absence of Dennis Hickie (retired) and Shane Horgan who plays for the ‘A’ team this weekend on his road back from injury. “As far as I’m concerned we picked the best squad and we’ve picked the best team” said ‘Sullivan who is under severe pressure to deliver a good campaign or probably face the sack.
