Rugby: Crusaders stay perfect ACT dumps Auckland
Toronto Star – Apr 12, 2008
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS CHRISTCHURCH New Zealand – The Canterbury Crusaders scored 28 unanswered points after trailing 6-3 at halftime to beat South Africa's Lions 31-6 in a Super 14 rugby match on Saturday. The first-placed Crusaders were held to a single penalty in the first half by the last-placed Lions but scored four tries in 21 minutes in the second half to claim a bonus point and extend their competition lead to seven points. Canterbury coming off a bye made several personnel changes for the match and showed the effects of rustiness and an untried combination giving up 16 turnovers in the first half. They lifted their game substantially after halftime and conceded only one turnover in the first 21 minutes of the second spell claiming a win which left them unbeaten after nine rounds. "At halftime we had a good look at ourselves" Canterbury captain Corey Flynn said.
