Kampala Mayor Nasser Sebaggala said no substantive reason would force KCC to halt the investment. He said construction in Lugogo wetland was acceptable depending on land use and the nature of the environmental impact assessment done. It will be the first rugby union game played at the new national stadium. In 1908 Australia beat a Great Britain side (represented by the county of Cornwall) 32-3 to take the gold medal. “It’s a unique chance to see top-class international rugby at one of the world’s greatest venues” said British Olympic Association chief Simon Clegg. Rugby has not featured at the Olympics since 1924 when the USA took gold in Paris.

Aled Evans from Dolgellau Gwynedd was taken to hospital at Bangor on 9 April but later transferred to the Walton Centre in Liverpool. Family and friends had kept a vigil at the rugby player’s bedside. The Health and Safety Executive and North Wales Police are jointly investigating. The coroner has been informed of Mr Evans’ death.

Manawatu rugby coach extends contract

Manawatu union chief executive Hadyn Smith said Rennie's long-term commitment helped ensure long term goals for the provincial team would be achieved. Rennie who also coaches the national under-20 team said he was happy with the direction that Manawatu Rugby was heading and wanted to drive that momentum. "I also feel I have some unfinished work that goes beyond this season. "We're putting a lot of emphasis on developing and retaining our local talent and I'm keen to be part of that process.
