He said it wasn’t a tough decision to form the Amazon Rugby Club which features girls from Burbank Valley and Elk Grove high schools. That’s what happens when you have four athletic-minded sisters. Green a former football and rugby standout at Burbank coached all his female siblings at one time or another in a U-19 club program that has become one of the nation’s best. The Amazons will play for a national title in Pittsburgh Pa.

David Grossman Sports Reporter The Malvern Black Knights senior boys’ rugby team owned the first half of their Toronto District School Board championship game yesterday at Sunnybrook Park. As for the Oakwood Barons they played like it was a day off. Ahead 24-0 before the midway point of the citywide final Malvern coach Doug Underwood gave the majority of his veteran squad a rest in the final 30 minutes as the Black Knights coasted to a 31-0 victory. For the Knights it was their third league title in the past four years. It was also their third consecutive win this year over Oakwood.

Kamagambo Teachers’ Training College (TTC) beat Bondo TTC 14-12 in a nail-biting final to clinch the men’s title while Kericho TTC crushed their Bondo counterparts 10-0 in a lopsided victory to win the women’s crown. It was too painful for Bondo TTC who had entered both teams (men and women) in the finals only to leave empty-handed. GA_googleFillSlot(“AllAfrica_Story_Inset”);Bondo had hoped to win at least one rugby trophy in the 25th edition of the college games that ended at the Shanzu Teachers college Wednesday. Bondo women had humiliated hosts Shanzu TTC 13-0 at the Khamis grounds in the semis. Mercy Neema and Rose Naliaka made a try each while the latter converted a penalty to send Shanzu TTC packing.
