At 6ft 3in and 17 stone Baldwin is a lot bigger than the average hooker and has been immense for the Ravens in the last few matches in the Principality Premiership. The Ospreys already have good hookers in Huw Bennett Ed Shervington and Richard Hibbard but Baldwin is bigger than all of them a better ball carrier and can actually hit his jumpers in the lineouts. Since he was a young lad he has been practising throwing in against the wall of his house! Baldwin 20 lives in Pendre and is “rugby mad” said his mother Irene. He started his rugby career while a pupil at Brynteg Comprehensive playing at all age groups during his time there. Achievements included scoring the winning try as a 16-year-old for Brynteg in the final match of their Grand Slam Tour of New Zealand. That achievement a rarity for any British rugby player was recognised in Rugby World magazine. Baldwin then moved on to Bridgend Athletic playing for two years for the youth team before being snapped up by Bridgend Ravens where he has been ever since sharing hooking duties with Ieaun Dobbs and occasionally Ed Shervington.
