The former prodigal son of French rugby was brought back into the fold following the humiliating 34-10 Six Nations loss to England at Twickenham on Sunday but only due to an injury to scrum-half Sebastien Tillous-Borde. He will take his place in the 23-strong squad that will travel to Rome to take on Italy on Saturday with little to play for but pride. But for the 26-year-old Michalak it represents a huge boost after spending more than a year in the international wilderness. Exciting rookie Fitzpatrick is a prime target
The Australian
Fitzpatrick 20 has been called up to the Waratahs’ 22-man squad for the remainder of the Super 14 series following the season-ending injury to reserve hooker Adam Freier. With a New Zealand mother and an English grandmother Fitzpatrick is eligible to play for the All Blacks and England. He could also play club rugby in Europe as a local which would enhance his market value. ut of contract at the end of the season Fitzpatrick has two Wallabies hookers – Tatafu Polota-Nau and Freier – ahead of him at the Waratahs although Polota-Nau is considering a big offer from Western Force and Freier is injured for the season. "Damien is a very patriotic Australian but it may be an option he looks at" Fitzpatrick’s manager Matt Cole said. "It’s not his first choice but if a deal doesn’t come up (with NSW) he would have to look at it. "He’s got two incumbent Wallabies in front of him so he has to look at where he is going.
