But having moved to the ambitious French team Toulon after 12 years with the Newcastle Falcons he says he’s made a perfect recovery after dislocating his knee in ctober. “I’ve no doubt I’ll be absolutely ready to go” Wilkinson said on Toulon’s website. “I’ll be a better player for the time I’ve had away; to learn to think to get an idea about where it is I want to go with my rugby. “Wilkinson who could make his Toulon debut on either Aug. 15 or 16 hopes to win his place back in England’s team. “I’ve actually had way more time than I need – plenty of extra months to get ready so I’ve taken the time to make sure I’m as fit as I can possibly be” Wilkinson said. Toulon president Mourad Boudjellal made Wilkinson a priority signing – despite his injury problems – as part of a massive recruitment drive with several other big names coming down to the south coast.

The 43-year-old minister broke his right arm in the game which included members of the Canadian Forces team the ttawa Irish Rugby Club and national team players Rod Snow and Morgan Williams. The game raised $25000 for the Military Families Fund. MacKay is known as a sports enthusiast who runs and plays hockey and baseball as well as rugby. He is active in the Pictou County Senior Rugby Club back home in Nova Scotia.

— A judge who found a teenage rugby player guilty of manslaughter in the death of an opposing player says the sports field is not a “criminal law-free zone. “Manny Castillo 15 died from a head injury a few days after he hit his head on the field during a junior rugby game in May 2007. ntario Justice Bruce Duncan found the now 18-year-old player guilty of manslaughter today. In handing down his ruling Duncan said the laws of Canada apply equally on the playing field as off. The Crown successfully argued that the accused then 16 committed manslaughter when he lifted Castillo into the air his feet facing upwards and then drove him head first into the ground.
